About The MW Music Studio

Welcome to the Berklee College of Music Macworld Music Studio. We have partnered with IDG (the people who put on MacWorld) to offer this expanded show floor attraction again this year. It will be filled with instruction, demonstrations, performances and training on how to use the Mac to bring your musical visions to life.

This is our 5th year putting on the Studio and we hope that our presentations will leave you inspired, motivated and entertained.  Here’s a little bit about us:

Tony Marvuglio

Tony Marvuglio
Asst. Vice President for Academic Technology at Berklee College of Music

At his day job, Tony directs many of the important academic technology decisions made at Berklee on a day to day basis. He oversees academic technology purchases for the college, develops and maintains vendor relations with music technology companies, supervises faculty technology development and support, and helped found our Berklee Laptop Purchase Program. (Just to name a few things that he finds time to do during the day!)

An amazing guitar player (and semi-avid guitar collector – just ask his wife!), Tony has been using technology to create and perform music… well since before it was prudent to do so!

You can catch him during these presentations at the MacWorld Music Studio Booth:

bill

Bill D’Agostino
Director of Training and Support Services at Berklee College of Music

Although considered to be the funniest and most hilarious member of the Music Studio team, Bill has what some might say as the most “serious” job at our college. Bill manages the technology training and support services for all the college’s staff and administration. If you’re having technology troubles, or if you just can’t figure out how to “make that darn thing work right”, just call our support hotline and it Bill’s team to the rescue.  When not attending meetings, Bill actually finds time to make some music. (Bill feels if he were paid on a price-per-meeting basis, he’d be able to retire already)

An amazing drummer, Bill keeps a steady schedule of gigs on top of his day job.  He currently plays for Debbie & Friends (a wonderful children’s group from Boston) and the Hip Pocket Orchestra.

Mike Carrera

Mike Carrera
Senior Training & Support Coordinator, Center for Technology in Music Instruction (CTMI) at Berklee College of Music

Mike is easily the most recognizable of the MW Music Studio crew thanks to his long hair.  (hey as Dolly Parton says, “It costs a lot of money to look this cheap!”)  He is also recognizable on Berklee’s campus – no, not for his long hair, every guitar player at Berklee has long hair… but for being one of the only two people who’s job it is at Berklee to “teach the teachers” how to do music with computers.  We’re a little jealous honestly, who else has a job where they get to play with all the latest and greatest music gear all day?

When Mike isn’t at “work” playing with cool music stuff, he does his own music – singing for his band LedFoot and producing record albums.  His latest is Debbie & Friends: More Story Songs and Sing Alongs.

Say hi to him at his MW Music Studio presentations:

John

John Valerio
Senior Support Consultant at Berklee College of Music

John might just have the busiest job at Berklee. He manages the IT services Training & Support hotline.  For every call that comes in, person that can’t print, and every issue that gets fixed, John has his hand in the mix somewhere along the way. And it’s a good thing for us that John has all that managerial experience! He plays the role of Music Studio logistics coordinator, media manager (the rest of us wouldn’t even know what a Twitter was if not for John), and official documentarian.

When not managing at work – wait he manages on his off time too!  John also runs the BEST creamery on the east coast – the Sunshine Creamery, in Rumford, RI.  (seriously folks, the best ice cream we’ve tasted!)  Mention you saw him at MacWorld and he just might even hook you up with some free!

This year at MacWorld, John is hoping to be able to ask Kevin Smith some deep questions about Superman.
